The Key to a Positive Morning Routine

Making lists, creating goals, and keeping routines are key to our productivity as human beings. Staying organized and knowing exactly what needs to be done often helps ensure tasks and errands are done quickly and efficiently.

Having a morning routine will increase productivity levels as well as happiness levels. You will have everything planned out so you aren’t feeling stressed in the morning, and it will in turn start your day off on a positive note.

Everyone’s morning routines vary; just because one person likes to get an hour of yoga in in the morning doesn’t mean that you need to. Alternatively, the length of your morning routine can vary as well; someone may need half an hour while another person needs two hours. The key is to sitting down and thinking about what you enjoy doing, what puts you in a good mood, and then trying out those activities in the morning and seeing what works for you.

Below are a list of positive activities you can incorporate into your morning routine (my morning routine is in italics):

  • Drink tea, coffee or a smoothie
  • Get active for 15 minutes (stretching, yoga, weight lifting, cardio, etc.)
  • Read a book
  • Wash your face
  • Recite a mantra/affirmation
  • Listen to music
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Go over your to-do list for the day
  • Make your bed
  • Meditate
  • Play with your pets
  • Listen to a podcast
  • Create a gratitude journal
  • Think of a random act of kindness you can do that day
  • Leave on time- no matter what!
